#Pride 2020

OKW’s staff is a reflection of the diversity of our great city. This year, we were fully committed to celebrate #PRIDE by returning to the city’s annual Proud to Run 5k/10k. However, we all know the familiar story, and it has something to do with COVID-19.

So this year, we did something a little more socially responsible. We asked our staff to run a virtual 5k or bike an equivalent 20 miles to celebrate #PRIDE. For each participant, OKW made a donation to a local charity, whose programming helps promote inclusion, support, and awareness among Chicago’s LGBTQ community.

Some OKWers used the opportunity to add a little celebratory kick to their fitness regimen. Others used it as a reason to enjoy the picture-perfect summer Chicago experienced for the last week of June. Of course, being design-minded professionals, many also used it as an excuse to visit architectural sites, such as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Winslow House, the Baha’i Temple in Wilmette, or the new Riverview Bridge in the Chicago River’s North Branch.

Happy #PRIDE!
