Harlem Irving Plaza, more affectionately known in the community as βthe HIP,β is a true urban shopping experience just outside of Chicago. When Carson Pirie Scott filed for bankruptcy, the shopping center had to determine what to do with a large, three-story store anchoring its northwest corner.
OKW worked with our client, Harlem Irving Companies, to reimagine the retail store as a grand atrium, providing a new entry to the mall for guests on the upper parking deck. In doing so, we also created 150,000 leasable space for smaller tenants.
