It has been quite a year at OKW. We grew and developed our staff into the best we have ever been, finished amazing projects, and made exciting new partnerships. We’re ending the year the way we started it: buzzing with activity and eager for what’s to come.
We grew.
OKW welcomed new faces in 2019, from interior designers and architects to financial and marketing professionals. As a firm, we celebrated one new engagement, two new children, several promotions, and sixty years in the architecture and design industry.
We finished amazing projects.
From new concepts rooted in nostalgia to the cutting edge of new retail, we were fortunate to work on many wonderful projects. As trusted partners to our clients, we are even luckier to continue working together in 2020.
We traveled the country.
Our clients trust us to deliver the same level of great work in Chicago as the rest of the country. This year, we traveled from California to Florida and Massachusetts, literally traversing the width of the United States.
We engaged with our industry.
From industry awards to collaborator events and facility tours, OKW was there. In a city with such a rich design community, participating and contributing is an honor and a privilege.
We gave back to our community.
We raised $11,000 for Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build project and spent a day in West Pullman framing a house; partnered with Leopardo and Milhouse Charities to donate thousands of non-perishable foods to the Chicago Food Depository; and gave to the various charities that are near and dear to us.
We had a lot of fun.
The OKW experience isn’t complete without a healthy dose of fun. Whether we were participating in our Get Moving challenge, scouring the city in an architectural scavenger hunt, twisting our brains to decipher logic puzzles, or toasting to summer at the J Parker, we found reasons to unwind and enjoy each other’s company.
