OKW is looking for a licensed architect with a thorough knowledge of architectural practice to join us as our Director of Architecture and Planning.

The role will oversee design and planning efforts and will monitor project design development, providing direction and support to ensure consistent and high-quality design work firm wide. A successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and visually, interfacing with clients, consultants, and municipalities.

As part of the leadership team, they will mentor staff to ensure consistent and high-quality designs with emphasis on thoughtful planning, understanding of context, and designing with an eye for detail.

We’re looking for a candidate that appreciates architectural design through the lens of proportion and understands the importance of carrying a design intent through to the built product.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop feasibility analyses with a thorough understanding of site and zoning requirements.

Lay out site plans and master plans with special consideration for context, placemaking, and financial feasibility.

Develop architectural designs with the support of a project team.

Represent the firm during the Entitlement phase by leading the preparation of presentations and participating in public hearings.

Provide design leadership to Project Managers and Project Architects overseeing projects from concept planning phase through design development and construction documentation.
